I just noticed that my profile shows a big bold red "block" showing the message...

" Reputation: -1 Neutral "

Why was this placed there and by whom...???...it must be nice to "play GOD" and add this apparently negative stigma to my profile...similar to ebay-type ratings...

I'm going to assume a mod placed it there...or perhaps a member that doesn't agree with one of my posts...

Can anyone clarify its significance...???...

If you look at the bottom right of each post, you'll find a + and a - button. These allow you to rate the individual post. Looks like someone didn't like one of your posts.

BTW, added a +1 for you, too. Yes, I'm generous. :D

Thanks for the responses an messages...I belong to various guitar forums and had never come across this before...

I checked my other profiles on other forums and found there was indeed an option to rate a post...although they are somewhat hidden and must be intentionally sought out through a series of clickable drop down menus etc...

Not somewhat readily available and accessible as on this site...which is perhaps prone to "accidental" clicking as one's hand remains on the wandering mouse while reading posts...

For the most part...on the other forums...nobody can be bothered to use the rating systems...and everyone's profile is "zeroed"...

Do we even need this plus/minus rating system...or is it a carryover from some ancient time and remains like some vestigial appendage...???...In other words...redundant...

A number of true critical discussion forums have this option. It works best with people who can take criticism better than most guitarists. I see it often on visual art and photography forums. I never see it on political forums if that tells you anything.

Hey there...I don't mind constructive criticism...I prefer mine to be "face-to-face"...where everybody can read it and comment on it...

What I don't like...is the total anonymity...(read:cowardly)...way of marking up someone's profile without knowing who/what/when/why...was it done by "accident" or with malice or by some joker that signed up for 2 or 3 posts then vanished...???..."

Every member here is entitled to know who gives them the thumbs up/down...why should the "rater" remain invisible...hidden like a sniper... ...while the posting member's identity remains public...???...

I say...do away with the rating system...everyone should be "neutral"...

Really? You made a thread to complain about this? Who cares what these people think? Did you think making a thread about it would result in kudos?

You can see it at the post if anybody liked it - or not

It's really simple

good post >>> +1
the others >>> -1

If everybody does a bit of considering wether or not to post
this place might get that "Quality over Quantity" posts

I am in the "I don't really care what people that I have never met, think about me" crowd--
