Well, I stand behind every word. The "sandwich" bodies were the biggest reason why Gibson was in such trouble through out the Mid 70's and even for a few years after Henry bought the company. It took nearly a decade for Gibson to regain the publics trust in their quality. What I didn't know, was that Randy himself did the actual design work on his original signature line. Turns out that not just the woods, but the actual shape itself is designed for an increased treble response. Love to know how that works.

I just find it extremely disgraceful, that they not only wait nearly 30 years to finally honor the man, but that they choose to do it with such a substandard issue, even if it is "historically accurate".

Are you talking about the Randy Rhoads signature Jackson Guitar ? That he part designed but said it still looked too much like a Vee so Grover Jackson just free hand cut the fin on a bandsaw. I believe Randys LP was a standard Model which he had back when he played in Quiet Riot

Yeah, but I was talking about the treble side, it's on the official website, they talk about him not digging the one side. The only times I ever saw him, or pics, it was a '70's LP Custon, in what I think used to be called "Antique Ivory" not "Arctic White." I wish they'd do some more in the Ivory, my 2nd favorite solid color, after Silverburst

By the way Gibson, thanks for bring back the Silverburst finish!

Mr. Henry,
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I cannot say it enough. I'm in a small Combat Outpost close to an international border; days can be very long. We do not have the same ammenities large bases offer. However, America the Beautiful has given birth to great Patriots like you and Jason willing to make a difference. Thanks for your generosity. I owe you a picture once I receive the guitar. God bless you, your enterprise, and the USA.

I will have someone reach out to you.

Charlie Daniels has gone over many times with a plane full of instruments we donated.

Be safe.

Henry

Major Arroyo sent this update today and asked me to post it along with the photos;

"I am very thankful to Mr. Henry, Jason, and the entire Gibson family for making this happen. The guitar made it to Iraq intact. I love her. It sounds great too. Thanks a lot for the extra goodies. I learned the major chords and I'm practicing couple of simple songs. There is an Iraqi interpreter who is very skillful with the guitar and he fell in love with my Maestro. He comes over frequently to play it and teach me some tricks. Its sound is soothing and relaxing.

Thank you for supporting troops in Iraq and may the Lord repay you with prosperity and blessings.

Sincerely
S Arroyo"

Since I have a number of friends who will be heading overseas next summer, I couldn't be happier than to see the good result of this particular exchange.

I'd add that the fact mentioned about an Iraqi interpreter who also plays guitar is, to me, very encouraging. I'm a firm believer that the guitar has marvelous potential to offer a cross-cultural language and to be a bridge to bring people together in an age when it often seems other factors add to danger in the world.

Congratulations to both those who gave, and those who received the guitar. And - for what it's worth, I think anyone who learns of the little guitar project should themselves feel gifted. I do.

Howdy from Texas, Mr. J.

Now that things have settled down a bit, I assure you that loyal Gibson guitarists support your efforts to build classic instruments, and to push the envelope of technology. I was dumbfounded by the lynchmob mentality of some respondents to the unveiling of the Firebird X. I love an R9, Explorer or Les Paul Junior as much as the next guy, but I also embrace the concept of the multi-functional electric. I bought a first edition Robot, and it is a fine instrument, and I play it along side my John Lennon Junior.

If you don't develop the technology, your competitors will. Keep going. Just continue to make the classics as you forge into the future. There is room for both.
A few Les Pauls, a Gretsch, a Fender, an Epiphone and a custom made R&B

I was thinking, after the hoopla settles down about the firebird X, how about putting the same technology in an RD styled Guitar?
use the same pickup configuration and all, it would just be a little ascetically pleasing.

Hi Henry,

I said good bye to Michael Mc Guire before August 3, his last day of work apparently. The last 2 archtops he made for me were wonderful and I thanked him for the attention to details and and care for the customer. Since I buy on average 1 gibson archtop a year could you please introduce me to the new Head of the department as you did with Michael?
Thanks
Regards,
Roberto

Hi Everyone:

I have set this up to give everyone an ability to reach the CEO and let me know what is on your mind. I would love to get suggestions from how the company works to what products you would like to see from us. I will try to reply personally as frequently as I can.

To make this productive, this will be a membership forum. Anyone can read the posts, but you must become a member to be able to post. Membership is free, but we ask that you use your real identity and let us know a few things about your musical instrument use so that I can respond to you more personally.

You are free to be honest and critical, but we would like to see respect for all members of this forum. Flames and profanity will definitely not be allowed.

We hope by giving you direct access to management we can make this a company that is much more responsive to its fans, and we can bring more people into our Gibson family.

I can't wait to here from you!!!

Henry Juszkiewicz

So you "can't wait" to hear from us..
Funny, looks to me like the last thing you want to do is hear from us.
I'm sure you are a busy man, and I wouldn't expect you to respond every day, but one comment every two or three months is surely within possibility! As I read these comments they sound so very hollow, false, just a crock of BS use to get some money and run. You want honesty? Well take a good look in the mirror and tell us (the folks YOU invited to this forum) if you are being honest with us. Do the words written here mean anything to you? Maybe you would have been better off never starting this thing if you didn't have intentions of following through; but you did, so now you should make an appearance every now and again or shut down the "Talk to Henry" section of this Forum - if only in recognition of the fact that you are never here...
