As usual, the UK has no entry to the competitions or it would seem any dealer events anymore.

Come on Henry. What's the excuses this time?

Don't give us any rubbish about you not being able to put competitions on in the UK. You could do it through a dealer and give us a chance to win once in a while!!

A disgruntled Gibson player, Sheffield, England.

What does everyone else think. That goes for other countries too!

And so it goes... they've got more important things to do than listen to their fans and customers. :(

Thanks for the feedback. Here's details on a current Gibson UK contest; http://www.gibson.co...test-0615-2011/ and information on Epiphone "Epi Days" UK dealer events starting in July can be found at http://www2.gibson.c...ler-Events.aspx

Hi there. Here is an update.

Well, I listened and although I didn't get to Sonisphere, I did attend the Epi Day at Dawsons in Huddersfield.

Here's what I found:

No signs to say it was an Epi day (or a day any different to what a normal Saturday was)
No Gibson/Epiphone competition and when I asked, I was told I could enter the shop's own competition to win a keyboard!!
No T-shirts and was told that Gibson/Epiphone don't supply them anymore due to costs!!
On a plus side, the shop had got all the Epiphones/Gibsons together on one wall but apparently this is normal!

I live in Sheffield, own a Gibson LP Standard, Gibson LP Studio and Epiphone Dot. My grandson also owns an Epiphone SG so a visit to a guitar shop in another town has to be for a reason and the Epi Day was just that.

The purpose of the visit was for my grandson to try out a range of Epiphones from Dots to LPs and try the Gibson SG (Junior) to see which he was next going to want. I also took a friend along who wanted to try the BB King.

Now I can't say this wasn't achieved and I take my hat off to the staff who were very helpful and allowed us full access to all the guitars and amps we wanted but!! I can get all that at my local shops.

The whole point of the day was this was a special visit to an Epi Day, organised for us Brits by Gibson/Epiphone. My grandson was looking forward to it and to say he was dissapointed would be an understatement (we can go to a guitar shop anytime if we just want to try guitars).

There is another Epi Day in Nottingham next weekend. I am once again taking my grandson. Let's hope this time they at least make an effort (or rather Epiphone do) to make it a bit different from a standard day in the shop.

I bet the Gibson Custom Travelling Exhibit that is only in the USA gets more interest not only from the punters but I bet Gibson actually make an effort too!!! while the UK continues to get the short shift!
