Henry, I've been a member of the Gibson family for a while. I guess I'm just a backwards Southern type of guy. Some would call my class White trailer trash. But like most southern boys I was brought up to be straight up. All I asked for was how to get a guitar that I wanted built and who to contact. So far on your forum I've been answer free and the Gibson Forum is telling me to go somewhere else to get the guitar I wanted built. I'm starting to think that the Gibson Forum I once enjoyed with a bunch of die hard Gibson playing musicians. Has turned From old school to what ever this new thing is. So I'm not going to waist your time anymore and do like most of the Die Hards in the past and move on to a place That cares about their product. I guess I'll do like the Forum told me and carry my guitar building some place else.Posted Image LATER // Steven

I would think a call to the Custom shop in Memphis would get you an answer. I can't say if they do "one of's " except for a very well known player. Gibson USED to do mods and variations on some of their guitars in the ancient past, so not sure if they will do what you want them to. They may say you need to go through an authorized dealer, even for a custom instrument.

That's why Google was created lol. It's not Gibson's job to hunt down a guitar shop in your area that has the guitar you want. Do some legwork and call around.

Well Mr. Bryant if it had been that simple I wouldn't have sent out the Post. Buying an all ready built on line guitar is simple. I have 7. But I was asking to get a custom guitar built under my specs. I finally am getting it done with Heritage Guitar company. Which I did use Google to find during my research. It's the closeest thing to Gibson I could get. The people at the factory have been real nice taking pictures of it getting built. Hopfully it will be in my hands in a couple of months. Here take a look at the progress. B) http://s462.photobuc...mview=slideshow I also have a blog going on about the building of this guitar.

I understand now, I misread your post. I don't think Gibson does custom guitars for anyone unless they are famous lol. They used to for everyone I believe. Martin does public custom work for their acoustics, and Fender does for their electrics, I think Gibson should as well.

Well, I think you couldn't've chosen a better guitar company to make your Custom spec'ed guitar.

This is the good people that used to work for Gibson before it went bunkrupt the first time, didn't sold out for the suits and took their destiny in their own hands founding the Heritage Co. from the ashes from the disbanded, looted and plundered Gibson Co.

Luthiers turned businessmen. Their policy? Build and sell guitars at their best of capabilities for a fair price.

Since then they slowly but steadely grew year after year, while Gibson went bunkrupt once again.

For me, they're the REAL Gibson. The ones that carried on the MacCarty legacy.

And they still exist, stronger than ever. Still selling the best guitars they can make for a fair price.

Food for thought, Henry. Food for thought... ;)
